Located in the Jura mountains, 1,345 m above sea level, Pré de Bière is a shop and demo dairy out in the green.
Come summer, the Germains and their cows go up to the “Pré de Bière” chalet complete with a shop and demo dairy. At 1,345 m above sea level in the middle of 285 acres of pasture grounds, you have the opportunity to taste terroir products while beholding the lovely landscapes of the Vaudois Jura.
The mountain chalet “Pré de Bière” near the Marchairuz mountain pass is steeped in history. It was recently renovated to guarantee visitors optimal reception conditions. Hikers and gourmets are welcome at 1,345 m above sea level to meet the Germain family, watch them make cheese, taste and purchase delicious terroir products.
In the warm season (approx. end of May to end of September), about a hundred cows graze at Pré de Bière and supply the milk for the delicious cheeses made and sold on site. The Pré de Bière shop also sells mountain meat and home-made desserts (meringues, bricelets, farm ice creams, honey and jams). Being a member of the network of establishments certified by Vaud Œnotourisme, the Germains have added the wines of the Duruz family in Monnaz (La Côte AOC) to their product range. So you will be sure to taste a meal that’s 100% Vaudois!
