A nice hike to understand the Mormont under different aspects: nature, history, geology, past and present human activities.
Throughout the ages, the Mormont has always been a place of passage: from the Romans to the pilgrims and the fauna... The Entreroches canal still leaves its mark, witness of an epic journey to the "Middle of the world".
At all seasons, the Mormont hill will seduce you. If flowers are your thing, choose March for the daffodils, May for the evergreens, June for the orchids and martagon lilies, to name but a few.
From La Sarraz train station, walk to Éclépens-station and discover the southern and northern slopes of the Mormont. The return journey, via the Entreroches canal, will take a different route. Most of the path is on gravel roads or trails.
If you plan to do the walk in 2 parts :
- La Sarraz station - Eclépens-station (about 2h20)
- Eclépens-station - La Sarraz (about 1h40)
