This lake is located in the Sépey Nature Reserve in Cossonay. The latter has been classified as a site of national importance for the protection of amphibians. This small place of paradise allows the people of the region to come to relax, especially after the Vita trail right next to it.
The Sépey lake is a breeding site for amphibians of national importance, one of the richest reserves in Switzerland with 14 species of amphibians out of the 18 recorded in Switzerland.
This area is also a stopping-off place for birds. A study has counted a hundred species in the forest, on the lake, and many are nesting. There are also aquatic species such as coots, water fowl, mallard and herons. In the lake, you can also note the presence of fish including enormous carps measuring up to one metre long.
