Two fortified lines were built shortly before and during the Second World War. For obvious anti-tank reasons, they were built on natural ditches: the courses of the Promenthouse (towards Coisins) and the Aubonne (where you are now). In 1944, as the Allies moved up the Rhone Valley, the retreating Wehrmacht could seize a route from Geneva via the Plateau to avoid encirclement and reach Germany. The Promenthouse and Aubonne lines should block their access to the Plateau.
